Review on Coastal Scents Smokey Eyeshadow Palette

Hi lovelies!!

Hope you all are doing well. Today I am going to talk about a palette from Coastal Scents, Smokey eyeshadow palette. I have only two or three palettes as I am not much into applying eyeshadows, I prefer them to wear them only on select occasions. I was eyeing to this palette for long as I wanted to learn Smokey eyes, I thought of starting with this eyeshadow palette as it has varieties of shades in pinks, blues etc.

So let’s start with the review now.

What the product says:

Coastal Scents exclusive Smoky Palette is perfect for creating a dynamic array of unique, colorful smoky eye looks. This palette, containing 36 highly-pigmented shades, is unique in that it comes grouped into six divisible color spectrums, each with six complementary shades.  Golden oranges, rich browns, and a neutral highlight to create a more natural smoky eye look.  Shades of vibrant green, lemon yellow, and deep chocolate brown for an earthier-look.  Pastel lavender to deep plums for a sultry violet-look. Shimmery silvers, matte black, and a sheer highlighter for a more common smoky eye.  Lively blues and aqua for an edgier-look.  Vivid pinks, iridescent highlighters, and a matte black shade with red sparkles for a vibrant smoky eye effect.

Ingredients:

Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Kaolin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Lanolin, Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, BHT. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue, Manganese Violet, Chrome Oxide Green, Chrome Hydroxide Green, FD&C Red No.40 Al Lake, FD&C Yellow No.5 Al Lake, FD&C Blue No.1 Al Lake.

Price:

$19.95 for 36.0g, I got it on 1500(INR) from the Instagram store

Pigmentation:

The shimmery and satin shades are more pigmented than the matte ones. But overall the palette is decently pigmented and gives the best effect when used with a primer.

My take on the product:

The palette comes in a black sturdy and sleek packaging, which contains total of 36 shimmery, satin and matte eyeshadows but without a brush. The plastic black casing is really solid and each pan is pretty generous which will last long for me. It is really a unique concept, where it comes grouped into six color-combo spectrums by which we can create so many different Smokey looks. There are neutrals, blues, greens, pinks and etc. I think this palette would be very helpful to me in starting and playing with different colors. Each set of six shades contains everything from matte, satin and shimmer which is great for newbies in eyeshadow like me who always find difficulty in creating a flawless Smokey eye makeup look, so definitely a good option for a learner. You can combine other shades too and do a mix and match of shades creating more options in Smokey looks. I find some matte shades are not that pigmented; and need more layering for getting the intense finish. But most of the shimmery and satin shades have a good color payoff! I think you need to apply a primer or a base to achieve the desired pigmentation. I find the eyeshadows can stand up to 5 to 5 hours in my oily lids and it can go better with primer. I haven’t felt much creasing or smudging effect even without primer which is really great! Right now I am in testing mode with this eyeshadow palette and trying to create some looks using this. I will come up with some vibrant Smokey looks very soon till then how about this eyelook which I have created combining some of the shades together click here (Note: I haven’t used any primer) https://www.instagram.com/p/BC49YhGpeY6/?taken-by=donaperfectlook

Pros:

·         Great shade variations
·         Shimmery and satin shades are having really good pigmentation
·         Staying power is pretty decent
·         Each set of 6 shades are enough as each set contains shimmery, satin and matte which is everything to achieve a Smokey look.
·         Sturdy packaging

Cons:

  • Little bit of fall outs
  • Some mattes could have been better in pigmentation wise.

Verdict:

Overall I am impressed with this palette, which is having variety of shades from pinks to blues, from greens to neutrals. It is really a good option for the newbies in eye makeup like me.  Like most other palettes it also has some hits and misses. The shimmery and satin shades are having intense pigmentation which is also bright while the matte ones are little difficult to work as they are not very soft and creamy as much as the shimmery and satin ones, though you can work with them with a primer or a base.

Rating:

4/5(1 mark is deducted because of little bit of fall outs and some less pigmented shades)

That’s all for today my darlings.

Bbye
